Located in sunny, Sarasota Florida, our sober living homes offer dignity, support, and structure. Our homes are safe. We take great pride in meeting and exceeding state accredited standards of care. Above all, our transitional homes help us find our purpose and start living our best lives yet!

Our Story

In 2012, Purpose House opened our first home for men. Most of the men had completed a three-month treatment program at the Salvation Army Center for Hope in Sarasota. Many hadn't worked for some time, and it was difficult to find employment. Purpose House gave them a safe place to continue their recovery journey, find work, and rebuild their lives.  Our method of blending 12 Step recovery programs with faith and a purpose helped our residents thrive.

In that first year, we added four more men’s transitional homes. In 2014 we added our first sober living home for women. Today we have 9 homes, all located in nice neighborhoods, close to downtown and transportation.

Our Sober Living Homes Are Certified

Our recovery residences are managed by men and women with multiple years of sobriety, who participate in weekly leadership training and education classes. They are provided the tools and knowledge to be successful leaders, and they provide guidance and structure within the homes. Purpose House Transitional Homes are Level II recovery residences certified with the Florida Association of Recovery Residences.

Many newly sober individuals are without a safe, clean and sober living environment. This can force someone who wants to make a change back to the environment which may have caused them to use in the first place. We provide a safe and stable living environment for those who are ready to take the next step in their recovery.

Our clients become Family

Many of our Purpose House residents are dealing with similar struggles and circumstances.  This creates an environment of accountability and mutual support, which is imperative in the early stages of recovery.

Meetings are big at Purpose House. On Tuesday nights, all our house leaders meet for further support and trainings. On Thursdays, we have All-House meetings to encourage our residents and help strengthen their recovery. We also celebrate successes and days in sobriety.

On Sunday evenings, all houses are required to attend Celebrate Recovery Sarasota. Celebrate Recovery, a faith-based 12-Step program, helps us to overcome our hurts, hang-ups and habits.  It features an array of different topics pertaining to faith and recovery, worship bands, guest speakers and so much more. Celebrate Recovery allows Sarasota’s recovery community to come together and strengthens the bonds between us as we celebrate the journey to our new lives.
